Maybe like them you take care of others - you never bail on a lunch date with a friend but when it comes to planning your meals for the day or taking a few quiet moments to journal your innermost thoughts, you’re too busy.

Guess what? Your hunch is right. A meal plan is just not enough.
Mindful Shape is not your traditional weight loss program because together we lower your overdesire for food and alcohol to match your desired body so you don’t want more than you need.
We address both the physiology of fat loss and muscle building, but also the psychological reasons you’ve been turning to food or alcohol.
I call this overdesire, in which both your body and brain want more food or alcohol than you need.
First, I’ll help you develop a personalized protocol, aka a strategy for eating and making food decisions specific to your unique goals and preferences, that will encourage your body to become Metabolically flexible and fat adapted. This means you’ll have more energy, less cravings, burn body fat, be less hungry, feel satiated with less on your plate and you don’t gain the weight back the minute you indulge because your body uses carbohydrates efficiently.
As a coach my job is to help you change what you’re doing, in this case how you’re eating or drinking, and being, qualities like resilience, determination and self-compassion rather than frustration so that you can achieve you feel as good in your body as possible, for as long as possible.
To do that we need two types of self-awareness: conceptual awareness (I understand why I do what I do) and embodied awareness (I know what I’m feeling).
Coaching works because you as the client are actively increasing this self-awareness required for change within a safe space in which I will be actively listening for:
- what it is you want to be doing,
- what’s getting in your way
- and how you need to change to get what you want.
What we’ll focus on within the 5 step Mindful Shape Process:
You’ll learn: 2 principles, 9 frameworks, 6 exercises and 10 practical tools to reduce overdesire so you stop turning to food to cope with stress, quickly get back on track after overindulging and push through every plateau.
Activate Desire
First you’ll get clear on what you want and learn how to infuse that goal with desire so it doesn’t feel like another “should” in your life but fills you with aliveness.
If it’s a drag the whole time, what’s the point?
You’ll learn how to make eating optimally for your health and body both interesting and enjoyable.
Strategize for Metabolic Flexibility
Learn a personalized decision-making framework for eating only when you’re physically hungry, stopping at “enough” and choosing foods that serve you to become fat adapted and metabolically flexible.
This means you’ll have more energy, less cravings, burn body fat, be less hungry, feel satiated with less on your plate and you don’t gain the weight back the minute you indulge.
Take Aligned Action to Handling Cravings and Urges to Overeat & Over drink
Become a take-it-or-leave-it person with sugar, flour and alcohol by learning the five 1 Minute Mindfulness mindset and embodiment tools to stay the course even when the chips, wine or cookies are calling your name.
You’ll get out of the clean plate club and put the fork down even when the food is delicious.

Hi, I’m Paula
Let me tell you a little about me and how I got here.
Many years ago I hired a life coach (this was when it was still pretty obscure and weird unless you were Madonna). Think going to therapy in the 80’s.
Anyway, it really helped me understand myself and started me on a path of repairing the low fat dieting/body image damage that was the late 90’s/early 2000’s.
Then I spent a small fortune on coach training and certifications and have spent the last decade helping other women who got off course with food and their weight and want to feel good in their bodies.
My work is here to help you transform; to make any change that seems unchangeable to you. Because it’s not whether the transformation is happening — it is. You are reborn every single day. Instead of struggling against it, I’m here to help you understand it and to learn to work with it.
My methods are based on cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), neuroscience, embodiment coaching (somatics), with a dash of shadow work and ancient wisdom.
I live in a majestic part of the world called Victoria on Vancouver Island, Canada with my husband and two little kids.
